NFL Week 7 predictions: Consider Seahawks, Panthers and Patriots

Lorenzo Reyes shares his three best bets for Week 7 in the NFL.

Week 7 just got a whole lot more difficult for the winless Jets.

Already struggling to consistently compete on offense, the team will now be without it’s best offensive playmaker as star wide receiver Garrett Wilson is set to miss multiple weeks with a hyperextended knee he suffered late in a 13-11 loss to the Broncos in London in Week 6.

Gang Green will need its the wide receiver room that features Josh Reynolds, Allen Lazard, Tyler Johnson and others to step up in Wilson’s absence.

In six games, Wilson recorded 36 receptions for 395 receiving yards and four touchdowns. The next closest to the Pro Bowl wideout are rookie tight end Mason Taylor, with 21 catches for 177 receiving yards and running back Breece Hall, with 17 receptions for 150 receiving yards this season.

Jets vs. Panthers predictions, picks, odds

Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of Wednesday, Oct. 15:

Panthers 24, Jets 10: The Jets and Panthers are two of the lowest scoring first half offenses while also being among the teams that give up the most first half points in the NFL. The biggest mismatch here is the Panthers’ top-five rushing attack (142.7 rushing yards per game) against the Jets’ rush defense, who have the 10th-worst rush defense (130 rushing yards allowed per game) through six weeks but did do a good job holding the Broncos solid ground game in check in Week 6.

Originally, I had the Jets winning their first game of the season. However, that’s not the case anymore following the latest news of the Wilson injury.

With Wilson now out, I expect this offense to struggle even more without its No. 1 WR for the foreseeable future, even at home against a beatable Carolina defense. Panthers’ running backs Chubba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle will run wild in this one as the Jets losing streak moves to seven games.
