The New York Giants will be without wide receiver Malik Nabers (torn ACL) and Darius Slayton (hamstring) on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, leaving their already thin roster in a precarious position.
To help remedy that, the team has elevated wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey from the practice squad for the second consecutive week.
In a stunning Week 6 upset victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football, Humphrey hauled in four receptions for 55 yards, including a key 34-yard catch on third-and-12 to set up a first-quarter touchdown.
For Humphrey, this will be his second elevation. He has one remaining this season.
In addition to Humphrey, the Giants also elevated Zaire Barnes from their practice squad. He, too, was elevated against the Eagles and took 17 snaps on special teams. He has only one activation remaining this season as well.
Finally, the Giants activated linebacker Victor Dimukeje from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list after missing the first six games due to a torn pec suffered back in April.
“He’s done a good job. He’s gotten reps with the defense, he’s gotten reps on the look team, he’s gotten reps on special teams. He’s had a couple of good days here,” head coach Daboll said this week.
In order to clear room for Dimukeje on the 53-man roster, the Giants waived defensive lineman Elijah Garcia. Assuming he clears waivers, Garcia will likely be re-signed to the practice squad.
