The Indianapolis Colts asked about the availability of Cincinnati Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson earlier this year. Should they take another run at him?

The Colts (5-1) head into NFL Week 7 action with AFC’s best record and might want to shore up a couple of areas, according to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer.

The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 4.

“There are not any real glaring holes on the Colts roster. I don’t look at a position and say, ‘Man they’re in trouble there. They really got to take care of that,'” Breer said on Thursday, Oct. 16, while answering questions from social media.

He noted the possibility of picking up a pass rusher or defensive back. The Colts are tied for seventh with 16 sacks and have been working through a deluge of secondary injuries. Cornerback Charvarius Ward (cornerback) has been placed on injured reserve and Kenny Moore II (Achilles) is scheduled to return against the Los Angeles Chargers. Jaylon Jones has been out several weeks.

“(Hendrickson) could be one that would be interesting to look at,” Breer said. “The Colts made a play for Hendrickson in the summer. The Bengals asked for a lot.”

Breer said Cincinnati wanted an early draft pick and defensive lineman Grover Stewart in return.

Hendrickson was dissatisfied with his contract during training camp and was on a “hold-in.” The sides agreed to a one-year deal with a salary cap hit of $25.1 million, according to Spotrac. He has 4 sacks.

Breer discussed the issue hours before the Bengals (3-4) beat the Steelers (4-2), narrowing Pittsburgh’s AFC North lead. Cincinnati’s interest in a deal will likely depend a lot on its results the next couple of weeks.
