SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The NFL continues to take the crown for the most confusing league of all time. On Sunday alone, the Broncos scored 33 points in the fourth quarter to win against the Giants after not scoring a single point in the first three quarters. The Colts continue to look like world beaters, sitting at 6-1. And unfortunately for Falcons fans, their roller coaster of a season doesn’t seem to be ending just quite yet.
Falcons 10, 49ers 20
Despite the Dirty Birds’ NFL-leading defense and second-ranked offense, Sunday night’s Falcons team looked more like the one that lost 30-0 to the Panthers than the one that took it to the Bills less than a week ago.
In the battle of top running backs, Bijan Robinson did his part, taking it in for a score in the third quarter, but Christian McCaffrey proved to be just a little bit stronger.
Mac Jones found CMC for a huge 3rd and 13 conversion late in the fourth, and on the very next play, McCaffrey got help from just about the entire o-line, pushing his way in for his second touchdown of the day.
The Falcons’ offense wasn’t able to get anything done in the final two minutes, and Atlanta dropped this one 20-10. They fall to 3-3 on the season.
Panthers 13, Jets 6
The Panthers entered the day looking to make it three straight wins.
Tied at three late in the second quarter, Bryce Young linked up with Xavier Legette in the end zone to give Carolina a touchdown lead.
With seconds left in the third quarter, Tyrod Taylor — in for the benched Justin Fields — threw it up for grabs in the end zone, and Jaycee Horn swooped in to pick it off and end the Jets’ threat.
The Panthers got their fourth win of the season and their first three-game win streak since Young has been the starter. However, Young did leave the game late in the third with an ankle injury. His status moving forward is unknown.
Rams 35, Jaguars 7
Early Sunday morning, the Jaguars took on the Rams in the NFL’s final London game of the year.
It was a wet and dreary day across the pond, but the fans still turned out. The problem for the Jags, though, was that their A-game did not show up. It was all Rams from start to finish. Former Bulldog Matthew Stafford threw five touchdown passes for LA.
Jacksonville, meanwhile, was only able to manage one touchdown — Travis Hunter’s first of the season. They also allowed seven sacks and committed 13 penalties for 119 yards.
The Jaguars now have a week off to reset before playing on the road against the Raiders on November 2.
