The Indianapolis Colts (6-1) hold the NFL’s best record. The Tennessee Titans (1-6) have a better mark than only the winless New York Jets.
So you figure the Colts would be heavy home favorites in NFL Week 8 action. But this heavy?
The Colts open as 14-point favorites for their game at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The last time the Colts were such large favorites, they blew a season. In the 2021 season finale, Indianapolis was a 15-point favorite heading to Jacksonville. The formula was simple: The Colts win and they make the playoffs; the Jaguars lose and they clinch the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Jacksonville won 26-11 as the Colts — who had a 98% chance to make the playoffs with two weeks remaining — missed out on the postseason.
The Colts beat the Titans 41-20 in Nashville in Week 3 behind Jonathan Taylor‘s three rushing touchdowns (to be fair, he has done that three times this season).
