The Carolina Panthers are strengthening their quarterback room before their Week 8 contest against the Buffalo Bills.

According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the team is signing veteran Mike White to their practice squad. The move follows yesterday’s ankle injury to starter Bryce Young, who made an early exit from Carolina’s 13-6 win over the New York Jets.

White, a fifth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys from the 2018 draft, has amassed four official NFL campaigns. He’s made seven starts in 15 career games between the New York Jets (2021 to 2022), the Miami Dolphins (2023) and the Bills (2024).

Panthers head coach Dave Canales told reporters on Monday afternoon that the team would look into adding another quarterback given Young’s injury. If Young cannot go this Sunday, veteran Andy Dalton is expected to get the start versus Buffalo.

White will now join fellow passer Hendon Hooker on the practice squad, and could be elevated for this weekend’s outing as a backup to Dalton.
