EAU CLAIRE (WLUK) — After an open records request from FOX 11, the Eau Claire Police Department has released video of their interactions with former Green Bay Packers quarterback Don Majkowski, who was cited for disorderly conduct after an incident outside a bar on Aug. 29.
Majkowski paid a $213.10 fine, court records show.
The various body cam videos show police interactions with Majkowski outside a bar, then eventually taking him to his hotel room.
A bartender told officers Majkowski and another man were pushing each other near the bar, according to the records. When an employee tried to separate the men, Majkowski grabbed the employee’s throat, leaving a visible red mark. The employee said he threw Majkowski to the ground and escorted him outside.
Police say Majkowski, 61, was extremely intoxicated and “he was unable to unlock his phone to contact his Uber” so officers drove him to his hotel.
On the way to hotel, Majkowski told officers: “You know what the real reason was? Their [expletive] girlfriends were like, ‘I want to meet Majik man, Don Majkowski, former quarterback,’ and they got [expletive] really pissed and they [expletive] took it out on me.”
Majkowski was taken to the wrong hotel first, then to where he was staying. As the officers escorted him to his room, Majkowski apologized for the incident.
Majkowski was a 10th-round draft choice for the Packers in 1987. He made the Pro Bowl and was runner-up for NFL MVP in 1989. He played for the Packers until 1992, then finished his career playing two seasons each with the Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions.
