New England Patriots wide receiver Demario Douglas had a hilarious way of describing his key catch on a fourth-down play in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
The Patriots were in the red zone on fourth-and-one and elected to go for it. Drake Maye dropped back to pass, and the ball ended up being behind Douglas, who made a beautiful adjustment and snagged it with one hand. It was a remarkable play that kept a drive alive that ended with the team scoring a touchdown.
Douglas has been playing at a high level in recent weeks, and the catch itself was just a reminder of his athleticism and playmaking abilities.
“Some Spider-Man-ish type,” Douglas said after the game, via Patriots Wire’s Sophie Weller.
Douglas getting more involved elevates the entire wide receivers room by giving Maye another reliable option on the field. Through seven weeks, the Patriots’ receivers have outperformed initial expectations.
