Zac Taylor on Flacco after win against Steelers
Bengals Head Coach Zac Taylor speaks at a press conference on Monday October 20, 2025.
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson showed support for head coach Aaron Glenn ahead of an NFL Week 8 game against the 3-4 Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium, despite the Jets’ 0-7 start this season.
But in doing so, Johnson threw starting quarterback Justin Fields under the bus.
“It’s hard when you have a quarterback with a rating that we’ve got,” Johnson said, according to Newsday’s Tom Rock. “He’s got the ability, but something is not jibing. … If you look at any head coach with a quarterback like that, you’re going to see similar results.”
“If we could just complete a pass, it would look good,” Johnson added. “You gotta convince them that you could do something. Otherwise it’s hard to have a game that you could win.”
Fields was benched for Tyrod Taylor during the Jets’ Week 7 loss to Carolina.
One day after Fields was replaced by Taylor after halftime, Glenn told reporters he hadn’t decided which QB will start in Cincinnati.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported Oct. 21 that the Jets are moving toward naming Taylor the new starter.
Taylor, who turned 36 in August, played his first four NFL seasons for the Ravens, when Joe Flacco was Baltimore’s starting quarterback.
Fields, in his fifth NFL season, has not started against the Bengals.
