The San Francisco 49ers have had a rough season in terms of injuries. Despite the team’s 5-2 record, many of the 49ers’ top players are hurt, and some will miss the remainder of the season.

However, they have not used that as an excuse; instead, they have rallied around their injured players and have used the adversity as motivation.

One player who will be greatly missed is linebacker Fred Warner. He will be out for the remainder of the season after suffering an ankle injury in the 49ers’ Week 6 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Yet, Warner will remain a strong presence in the locker room as one of the team captains.

Niners Get Emotional Win in First Game Without Warner

Warner was in attendance for the 49ers’ most recent game against the Atlanta Falcons. He was seen sitting in a suite with his wife and child.

Warner had a cast around his ankle, and while he was not able to walk he still got the crowd fired up when they showed him on the Jumbotron.

After an incredible night for the 49ers, Warner’s wife (Sydney Warner) posted to Instagram a picture of her and Fred kissing with the caption, “Emotional and memorable day, happy for a Niners win!”

This will be the first extended stint without football for Warner during his pro career. During his first seven NFL seasons, he has only missed one game. Now that he is out for the season, it will be interesting to see how he can still play a role as a leader for his team.

After the game on Sunday night, Warner was seen greeting all of his teammates back to the locker room after their win.

49ers Staying Afloat Amid Injuries

Warner is only one of the many players the 49ers have had to play without thus far in 2025.

They will also be without Nick Bosa for the remainder of the season after he suffered a torn ACL in Week 3. Additionally, starting quarterback Brock Purdy has missed the last three games and five overall so far this season.

With so many of the 49ers’ key players on either side of the ball missing time, their 5-2 mark is all the more noteworthy and certainly reflects glowingly on head coach Kyle Shanahan and his staff.

It will be interesting to see if the injuries catch up to the 49ers at some point this season, but for now, they are mostly riding high.
