The Tennessee Titans pulled off a bizarre 22-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, in one of the wildest fourth-quarter comebacks you’ll see.

The Titans were down 21-6 heading into the final quarter, but came up with the win due to a costly Cardinals goal-line drop, a bonkers interception-turned-touchdown, and a game-winning walk-off field goal.

The rally started with Arizona’s mistake, as Cardinals running back Emari Demercado let the ball drop out of his hands just outside the end zone on what should have been a 72-yard rushing touchdown.

The call was a close one. Demercado’s run was originally ruled a TD, but was overturned after review and ruled a touchback. The fatal mistake erased a touchdown that would have given Arizona a 28-6 lead over the Titans.

For Demercado, it was certainly a night to forget. The touchdown would’ve been Demercado’s first of the season, after the third-year running stepped up for Sunday’s game after Trey Benson was placed on IR. And it was the second time this season a player lost a TD on a goal-line drop, with Indianapolis Colts receiver Adonai Mitchell making the same mistake last week.

“I just made a mistake,” Demercado told reporters after the game. “There’s really no excuse. Obviously emotional … big play. But I just have to be smarter.”

For Tennessee, it was a wild finish to cherish. On the next drive, Tennessee scored a touchdown to narrow the Cardinals’ lead, though kicker Joey Slye missed the extra point.

Then, the Titans found a way to score again in an incredibly baffling manner. With a little less than five minutes remaining, rookie quarterback Cam Ward was intercepted in the red zone by Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, but Taylor-Demerson bobbled the ball before eventually losing it.

The fumble somehow got kicked around by three Cardinals defenders before Titans receiver Tyler Lockett was able to smother it in the end zone.

The score got Tennessee within two points of Arizona’s lead in the final minutes of the game.

From there, the Cardinals were eventually forced to punt with less than two minutes remaining. But the Titans found a miracle on third-and-2, with Ward hitting Calvin Ridley for a 38-yard gain.

In the red zone already and with time ticking down, Tennessee just needed a field goal to win. Slye made up for his earlier PAT miss with a 29-yard field goal that sealed the wild comeback.

With the victory, the Titans got their first win of the season on the road, moving to 1-4. It’s also the first win for Ward.

For Demercado and the Cardinals, it’s a night they won’t soon forget. It also marked the third straight defeat for Arizona, all decided on the final play of the game.
