Bo Nix and the Broncos were lifeless for three quarters on Sunday against the New York Giants. With their backs against the wall in the fourth quarter, down three touchdowns, he led one of the best comebacks in Broncos history and eeked out a 33-32 win over the G-Men to give the Broncos sole possession of first place in the AFC West.
Nix made history in the win, as he became the first player in NFL history to record two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns in the same quarter. He finished the contest with 279 passing yards and 48 rushing yards to go along with those two touchdowns.
As a result, Nix won an award for his efforts, but it’s not one that’s a traditional NFL award, and is instead one that’s catered more to the young NFL fanbase.

The Broncos’ signal caller was named as the Nickelodeon Valuable Player, a.k.a NVP, for Week 7. It’s the second time that he’s been named as the NVP, following Week 18 last season when he went 26-for-29 with 321 yards and four touchdowns against the Chiefs’ JV squad.
The award was first introduced in the 2020 postseason, when then-Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky won the honor in a loss against Sean Payton and the New Orleans Saints. No other Bronco has brought it home.
Is this a serious thing? No. It’s supposed to be all fun and a way to make the NFL more enticing for kids to watch by tying it to their favorite cartoons. Nickelodeon has been trying to become a small part of the NFL’s broadcasting landscape over recent years by simulcasting certain games that are filled with slime and some of the most iconic characters from a variety of shows, such as “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
The Broncos disastrous 2022 Christmas beatdown was one of those games that had a Nickelodeon broadcast happening on the side. The highlight of that game was Patrick Star saying “that’s not what he wanted to cook” after Russell Wilson threw a bad interception in the first quarter. The Rams ended up beating the Broncos 51-14, and the memes from the Nickelodeon broadcast were not fun to see for Broncos Country.
Patrick Star really has a future as a play-by-play announcer. 🤩
