Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown will miss Sunday’s game against the New York Giants because of a hamstring injury.

Brown, who scored two touchdowns in Week 7 against Minnesota, did not practice all week. He did not leave the Vikings game with an injury, so it’s unclear when it occurred. Brown was not available to speak with reporters after the game or throughout this week.

Sunday will mark the first game Brown has missed this season. A three-time All-Pro, Brown has 29 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns. His 56.4 yards per game are the fewest in his career, and Brown has been frustrated by his lack of production at times in recent weeks. There was optimism that the standout performance against the Vikings, when both Brown and DeVonta Smith topped 100 receiving yards, would be a sign of progress for the Eagles’ inconsistent offense.

Without Brown, Smith is the unquestioned No. 1 wide receiver. Smith is coming off logging a career-high 183 receiving yards against Minnesota. Jahan Dotson will become the No. 2 receiver, and John Metchie will move up the depth chart. The Eagles also have Xavier Gipson.

Undrafted rookie Darius Cooper, who is on injured reserve, returned to practice Thursday and is questionable for Sunday’s game. Running back Saquon Barkley and tight end Dallas Goedert are also key parts of the Jalen Hurts-led offense.

Browns’ absence will be a critical test for the Eagles. The offense has struggled without Brown since he came to Philadelphia in 2022. In his time with the Eagles, the team has scored 27 offensive points and averaged 362 yards per game when Brown plays. Philadelphia is 48-13 in those games.

The Eagles have scored 15.8 offensive points and averaged 326.2 yards per game when Brown is absent. They went 2-3 in those games.

Philadelphia has a bye week after the Giants game, so Brown’s next chance to play for the Eagles is against the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 10.

Brown is not the only key player missing against the Giants. Center Cam Jurgens, cornerbacks Adoree’ Jackson and Jakorian Bennett, and edge rushers Brandon Graham and Azeez Ojulari are also out. Jurgens, who has a knee injury, is expected to be replaced by veteran Brett Toth. Kelee Ringo is likely to start at cornerback.

Although Graham came out of retirement this week, the Eagles will give him the bye week to return to football shape before activating him to the roster.
