COLUMBUS, Ohio — The New England Patriots have signed Ohio State football’s Gee Scott Jr. to an undrafted free agent deal.
Scott was with Ohio State for five seasons before heading to the NFL. He was a member of the 2020 recruiting class.
He originally joined the team as a receiver but moved to tight end before leaving Columbus.
What Ohio State’s Gee Scott brings to the NFL
Scott is certainly more of a receiving threat on offense than he is a traditional, in-line tight end.
In 2024, he had 27 receptions for 253 yards and two touchdowns with the Buckeyes. He had four scores and 47 catches in his Ohio State career.
He should be able to contribute on special teams at the NFL level and provide some tight end depth as a player who can catch the ball.
Gee Scott’s best moment with Ohio State
Scott had one of the best touchdowns of the season for Ohio State in 2023 when he caught a pass from Kyle McCord against Rutgers.
He caught the pass over the shoulder of a defender, tracked it into his body and then hung on through the play to survive the ground and score.
He was never a featured option of Ohio State’s offense with the bevy of receivers the team had, but proved he could make plays when the team needed him to do so.
