The Indianapolis Colts have downgraded defensive end Tyquan Lewis from questionable to out for Sunday’s Week 8 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
Although originally listed as questionable, Lewis suiting up for this game seemed like a long shot. He suffered a groin injury last Sunday and then did not practice at all this week.

Lewis has logged 10 pressures and three sacks this season, per PFF, along with four tackles. He also has the flexibility to be moved inside during more obvious passing situations.
The Colts had already ruled out Samson Ebukam for this game with a knee injury. He is considered week-to-week at this time, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Now, without Lewis as well, the Colts are quite thin at defensive end. Rookie JT Tuimoloau will take on a much larger rotational role than he has previously, and the team also elevated Durell Nchami from the practice squad for depth.
Leading the way, per usual, at this position will be Laiatu Latu and Kwity Paye.

Overall, the Colts’ pressure numbers are fine, but in part, that’s a product of their opponents being pass-heavy as they try to catch up to the Indianapolis offense. Perhaps a more accurate reflection is that the Colts rank 28th in ESPN’s pass rush win rate metric.
