Fans locked out? Detroit Lions respond as AWS outage hits Monday Night Football gameday entry

  • October 26, 2025

DETROIT – Detroit Lions fans heading to Ford Field for Monday night’s game are facing ticket access issues due to a widespread internet outage caused by Amazon Web Services.

The outage, which occurred on Monday (Oct. 20), has affected hundreds of online services, including Venmo, Snapchat, Facebook, Reddit, and even Ring doorbells.

Now, ticket platforms are also experiencing problems.

Local 4 was at Ford Field, where many fans were entering the stadium without issue, but some could not pull up the barcode needed to scan their tickets.

The Lions advised fans having trouble connecting to the stadium Wi-Fi to head to the box office for assistance.

One out-of-state fan shared her frustration: “We pulled up the tickets on Saturday through the Detroit Lions app, Ticketmaster, and even the wallet, but no barcode showed up. They told us to go to the box office after security, but there’s a long line.”

Despite the inconvenience, the gates were open, and many fans were getting in smoothly.

The best advice from the Lions is to save tickets in a digital wallet if possible to ease access.

“Ticketmaster and AWS continue to work through the outage. We encourage fans to re-log in to their system as accounts are coming back online. If you can access your tickets, we highly recommend you move them into the wallet on your device.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the situation remains fluid.
