The seemingly impossible for the New York Jets happened in Week 8.
Traveling to the Cincinnati Bengals (3-5), the Jets took their first win of the 2025 season in a 39-38 final.
It was an emotional day for New York on many levels. Regardless, there will be some relief found for the Green and White.
With that, here are Jets Wire’s five takeaways from the Jets’ win over the Bengals:
Aaron finally gets it
After weeks and months of being criticized and question, you’ve got to give him his flowers. Aaron Glenn finally has his first win as an NFL head coach.
While that does deserve credit, there is still plenty of work to do for this Jets team. At minimum, some pressure has been let off with this one.
Defense still struggles
We’ll get back to the positives of winning, but after two-straight games producing some impressive stats, the Jets defense was not good against a Bengals offense filled with playmakers. New York only let up 13 points in their last two outings, but in their defense, the Jets were without cornerback Sauce Gardner (concussion).
Trickery from Breece
Running back Breece Hall had some wild day in the Jets’ backfield. At the top, he became the first non-quarterback to throw a game-winning touchdown in the final two minutes of contest. Not to mention his 18 carries for 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Fields’ revenge (against the Jets)
Fields has had a trying season like Glenn. Being the starter in New York is usually tough but this past week was awful for him. Even team owner Woody Johnson piled on him.
Fields kept the game clean by not turning it over. He was 21-for-32 passing with 244 yards and a touchdown. Fields ran the ball strong as well, including in the red zone, with 31 more yards on the ground.
Win for Nick
A sad day for the Jets after the sudden death of former center Nick Mangold was announced before the game. It was clear the team wanted to win for him and Mangold as it was discussed plenty following the contest.
