The Houston Texans looked like a playoff team in Sunday’s victory at home. Does that mean they’ve made the jump up in the latest power rankings?
Coming off of a 26-15 win over the San Francisco 49ers, the Houston Texans are now ranked 15th in Nate Davis’ latest NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports. That’s nine spots higher from its No. 22 ranking following Week 7’s road loss against the Seattle Seahawks, who remain at No. 6 coming out of the bye week.

“The passing offense finally came to life Sunday − naturally, the absence of WR1 Nico Collins (concussion) was the missing piece,” Davis wrote.
Collins, who missed Sunday’s win with a concussion, is expected to be back this week when the Texans welcome in the Denver Broncos, who appeared at No. 7 in the latest power rankings after this win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Around the AFC South, the Jacksonville Jaguars only found themselves one spot ahead of Houston amid their bye week and could be trending down. Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans are in the cellar, falling to dead-last after their Week 8 loss and the New York Jets’ win.
The Indianapolis Colts dropped one spot to No. 4 despite securing an easy division win over the Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium. Davis more so is just more assure of the three other teams listed ahead of the Colts rather than doubting Daniel Jones and the offense.
How well is it going for the team with the league’s best record (7-1)? QB Daniel Jones was sacked on third down Sunday … for the first time this season. Also, MVP candidate Jonathan Taylor is on pace for more than 2,200 yards and 30 TDs from scrimmage.
