PITTSBURGH — Wide receiver Ben Skowronek unexpectedly landed on the Pittsburgh Steelers injury report with an unspecified neck injury on Wednesday.
The injury limited him in practice. It’s unclear how or when Skowronek suffered the injury. He was spotted in the locker room at UPMC Rooney Sports complex after practice without any obvious signs of injury.
The 6-foot-3, 224-pound wide receiver, given the nickname “Dirtbag” by offensive coordinator Arthur Smith in 2024, is most well known for his blocking and special teams prowess.
On offense, Skowronek has played just 62 snaps this season and been targeted three times. His two catches include a Week 1 touchdown. But on special teams, he’s a key contributor, with 139 snaps this season — 74% of the team’s total.
The Steelers may also be without wide receiver Scotty Miller this week. Miller is dealing with a broken finger on his left hand. The club added former quarterback, now wide receiver John Rhys Plumlee to the practice squad on Wednesday.
