A key member of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense did not practice on Wednesday ahead of the team’s Week 9 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Safety Eric Murray was listed as a non-participant due to a neck injury.
Murray had been on the injury report previously with a neck injury. He also exited the Jaguars‘ Week 7 game with the Rams due to a neck injury.
In seven games this season, Murray has recorded four quarterback pressures, while making 34 total tackles, along with logging three pass breakups and an interception, according to PFF.
We will see what Murray’s practice statuses are for the remainder of the week, but any time a player misses practice due to an injury, it’s worth monitoring.
Andrew Wingard has been starting next to Murray all season, while Antonio Johnson has been the third option at safety.
Liam Coen did say that a point of emphasis during the bye week was on limited explosive plays, and the safety position plays a key role in accomplishing that.
