Here’s that depth at running back we were looking for. The New Orleans Saints have signed another rusher to the practice squad after Tuesday’s free agent tryouts, adding former Indianapolis Colts draft pick Evan Hull to the rotation behind Alvin Kamara, Devin Neal, and Audric Estime, who is also on the practice squad. Now they’re running four-deep.

Hull, 25, was picked by the Colts in 2023’s fifth round after a solid career at Northwestern. He’s a good athlete, weighing in 5-foot-10 and 209 pounds, with a laser-timed 4.47 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He also did well in agility drills at the NFL Scouting Combine. But he never did find his way with the Colts, having missed his rookie year with an injury and struggled to get touches behind a budding superstar in Jonathan Taylor. He ended up on their practice squad for 2024 and didn’t return in 2025, instead trying out with the Pittsburgh Steelers over the summer.

Now he’s in New Orleans. Hull will have to try his hand on special teams and make the most of his opportunities on the scout team at practice in order to get called up for any games any time soon. You’d figure Estime is ahead of him in the pecking order, but if he can check enough boxes during the week, he just might get the nod on Sundays.
