As the sun finally shined on Justin Fields less than 24 hours after his living nightmare ended with his dream comeback win in Cincinnati, Aaron Glenn would not commit to him as his starting quarterback following this bye week.

It was Fields’ first win as a Jet and Glenn’s first win as the Jets head coach.

Fields exhibited the kind of mental toughness Glenn had been preaching, the kind of mental toughness every head coach demands from his quarterback.

When the white noise around him was everywhere he listened, somehow even from his own owner, Fields summoned the fortitude and the strength to secure a personal triumph that even Jets fans who had been calling for his ouster should have appreciated.Â
