A key member of the Colts’ defense missed a second practice on Thursday due to injury.

Indianapolis Colts’ defensive tackle Grover Stewart has missed the first two days of practice this week as he works through a foot injury.

For a veteran like Stewart, not practicing doesn’t mean that he won’t be available on Sunday, but anytime a player misses two days of practice, it is noteworthy.

Stewart would play 23 snaps in the Colts’ Week 8 win over the Tennessee Titans.

As he does, Stewart has been a force along the interior this season, particularly against the run. Stewart currently ranks tied for ninth in run defense tackles among his position group, and he is tied for seventh in run stops, per PFF.

Stewart has also generated seven quarterback pressures and forced two interceptions via pass deflections — one of which Laiatu Latu came away with, while Stewart would come down with the other.

Friday’s practice status for Stewart will provide us with added insight. We will also hear from head coach Shane Steichen on Friday as well.

Neville Gallimore and Adetomiwa Adebawore have largely filled the rotational defensive tackle roles behind Stewart and DeForest Buckner this season.

In addition to Stewart missing a second day of practice, so did Anthony Gould (knee) and Samson Ebukam (knee).
