The Pittsburgh Steelers have released their final injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 9 game against the Indianapolis Colts. Per the team, three players have been ruled out: WR Scotty Miller (finger), CB Cory Trice Jr. (hamstring/knee), and SS Jabrill Peppers (quad). Four players are questionable, including two with illnesses in SS Chuck Clark and ILB Cole Holcomb. QB Will Howard (hand) and ILB Malik Harrison (knee) are also questionable.
OG Issac Seumalo has no game status and is expected to play despite suffering a pec injury that left his availability in question entering the week. He practiced in limited fashion today. CB Darius Slay practiced fully after missing Thursday’s session due to a personal matter and has no game status. C Zach Frazier is also listed as a full-go despite a limited Friday practice. WR Ben Skowronek and TE Pat Freiermuth will play after being limited earlier in the week.
Newly acquired S Kyle Dugger (knee) was also full Friday as was DL Cam Heyward, who received Thursday off.

The Steelers had a whopping 16 players on Thursday and today’s report, but today’s listing offers more clarity. Seumalo’s inclusion is a pleasant surprise. Since Tuesday, Mike Tomlin kept the door open for him to play against the Colts and despite missing Wednesday and Thursday, his veteran experience made him an option to play despite just a half-practice this week. It’ll allow OL Spencer Anderson to continue working as the team’s sixth offensive lineman. Previously, offensive coordinator Arthur Smith played coy when asked if the team would still use its effective “jumbo” package featuring a sixth offensive lineman if Anderson had to start at left guard for Seumalo.
Miller suffered the finger injury ahead of the Packers game. DK Metcalf, Calvin Austin III, Roman Wilson, Ben Skowronek, and Ke’Shawn Williams will serve as the team’s receivers this weekend.
Frazier has battled a calf injury since hurting it during Week 7’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals but is expected to play. Skowronek and Freiermuth missed time early in the week but will suit up, too. Dugger was listed on yesterday’s injury report after missing Week 8 with a knee injury but is healthy for Sunday’s contest. How much he plays remains to be seen but DC Teryl Austin indicated Dugger will have a role.
Peppers and Clark reduce safety depth and could increase Dugger’s snap count. Peppers injured his quad Thursday while Clark sat out today’s session. If Holcomb misses, Payton Wilson and Patrick Queen will dominate the inside linebacker snaps, though Harrison could return from IR and play on run downs. Trice’s knee injury seemingly occurred during yesterday’s practice and may keep him on injured reserve the rest of the season. He had one full practice before getting hurt, an unfortunate trend in his NFL career.
If Clark sits out, the team could elevate newly signed S Darrick Forrest to provide depth and help on special teams.
Slay missed yesterday’s practice to attend his son’s Senior Night but will play against the Colts. However, he’s begun losing snaps and his role for the game is uncertain. Holcomb sat out Thursday’s session with an illness but will also suit up.
Harrison and Howard remain on injured reserve but could be activated this weekend. Harrison’s 21-day window closes Monday. Activating either must take place by Saturday at 4 PM/EST.
Earlier Friday, the Steelers placed SS DeShon Elliott and NT Daniel Ekuale on injured reserve. Both will miss at least the next four games, and Ekuale is out for the year with a torn ACL while Elliott isn’t guaranteed to return this season. Those moves opened up two spots on the 53-man roster, paving the way for Harrison or Howard to be added in their place.
The Steelers and Colts kick off Sunday at 1 PM/EST.
