Packers coach Matt LaFleur provides latest on Quay Walker’s calf injury
Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur said Quay Walker missed the Oct. 30 as a precautionary measure with a calf injury.
GREEN BAY − Green Bay Packers linebacker Quay Walker was dressed in pads for the team’s Oct. 30 practice, but didn’t participate.
Then he popped up on the team’s injury report listed as a calf injury.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said it was to be on the safe side. “He was feeling a little something, so we were a little bit cautious with him,” LaFleur said during his Oct. 31 pre-practice news conference.
Walker rejoined the team for practice Oct. 31. The Packers will monitor him to see how he feels before deciding if he plays the home matchup with the Carolina Panthers on Nov. 2. Coaches have been pleased with Walker’s play this season, with 64 total tackles (33 solo) and 1.5 sacks on the season.
“There’s so much growth to him as a person, as a leader, maturity,” Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley said. “On the field, he sees the game so much quicker right now, and I think (linebackers coach) Sean Duggan has done an incredible job with him teaching him the game, being around him, I think he’s taking a big step.”
For the rest of the Packers, just three players missed practice.
