The Cowboys may or may not face Kyler Murray on Monday night. At least, that’s how Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon made it sound.
Gannon spoke to reporters Saturday morning, where he revealed that Jacoby Brissett would start at quarterback against the Cowboys. According to Gannon, Murray is not yet ready to start.
“[We] obviously feel good about Jacoby. I do want to give it the next couple of days to see if Kyler could possibly have a role on game day,” Gannon said.

Murray has been out with a foot injury. The former Allen star has missed Arizona’s last two games and spent the bye week trying to recover. The Cardinals have listed Murray as “limited” in practices throughout the week.
The last time Murray saw the field was in Week 5 against the Jets.
Gannon previously told reporters the team’s plan was to get Murray “fully healthy” before he returns to action.
Brissett is a journeyman quarterback who’s with his sixth team in six seasons, but he’s been serviceable over the past two games for the missing Murray. In two tight losses to the Colts and the Packers (each at the top of their respective conference standings), Brissett has completed 52 of 80 passes (65% completion) for 599 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. He’s not the mobile threat that Murray represents, but he’s also added 45 yards on the ground over the past two weeks.
Murray generated plenty of buzz throughout the week, thanks to his past dominance at AT&T Stadium. The Allen product owns an 8-0 record as a starter at the stadium in Arlington.
