With the NFL trade deadline quickly approaching, The Athletic’s NFL insider Dianna Russini shared everything she’s hearing around the league, and included were a few nuggets about the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The first bit of information from Russini is that the Jaguars are looking for a defensive tackle.

This certainly doesn’t come as a surprise. For one, there have been other reports that have said that the Jaguars are looking for help up front.

In addition to that, Jacksonville could use more pass-rush juice from this unit. Head coach Liam Coen would also acknowledge recently that the Jaguars’ defense needs more from this unit.

“We need it,” Liam Coen said of the defensive tackles. “We’ve looked at how do we help them on early downs, create more of an edge, and get some favorable match ups? We’ve looked at in the known passing situations, where are we putting these guys and how can we put them in better positions to be successful and get more ops on the quarterback?”

The other bit of info pertains to Brian Thomas Jr. Last week, Russini reported that the Jaguars were “listening” to calls on the second-year wideout.

In her latest report, Russini wrote that Jacksonville has “received a lot of interest” in Thomas Jr. Russini then added that, “most around the league believe it would take a first-round pick and then some” to land Thomas Jr.

If the Jaguars were listening to offers on Thomas Jr., one would think that Travis Hunter being placed on IR would change things. Jacksonville should now be looking to add a receiver to their roster, not trade away an uber-talented one.

The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday, Nov. 4th at 4:00 PM ET.
