Only nine days before coming to Green Bay for “Monday Night Football,” the Philadelphia Eagles swung a trade with the Baltimore Ravens for former Packers Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Ravens received nothing more than a draft pick swap in return for Alexander, who was released by the Packers in June and then ended up playing in only two regular season games in Baltimore. He was a healthy scratch for Thursday night’s win over the Miami Dolphins.
After suffering a ligament injury in his knee and missing most of the 2024 season, Alexander struggled to get his knee healthy to start 2025 and has struggled when on the field. He played 33 snaps in Week 1 and 28 snaps in Week 2 but allowed five catches on five targets into his coverage for 116 yards while also committing a penalty and missing a tackle.
Alexander, a first-round pick of the Packers in 2018, was a second-team All-Pro in both 2020 and 2022. But injuries have wrecked his last five seasons, and he played in fewer than 10 games in three of the four years before 2025.
The Eagles have completed trades for a pair of cornerbacks this week, acquiring both Alexander and Michael Carter II to bolster the depth at the position behind Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
The Packers were scheduled to face Alexander and the Ravens in Week 17 at Lambeau Field, but his return to Green Bay is coming early.
The Packers host the reigning champion Eagles at Lambeau Field for “Monday Night Football” in Week 10. Will Alexander be on the field for the Eagles against his former team?
