The Jaguars made a pair of roster moves prior to their game against the Raiders. What might those moves mean for Sunday?

The Jacksonville Jaguars made a pair of roster moves ahead of their Week 9 game with the Las Vegas Raiders.

On Saturday, the Jaguars announced that they elevated linebacker Branson Combs and wide receiver Tim Jones from the practice squad to the active roster.

So what might these moves mean for Sunday’s game?

Combs’ elevation comes with Devin Lloyd questionable. In Week 7, when Lloyd was ruled out, Combs was elevated for that game as well.

As of now, this doesn’t mean that Lloyd won’t play, but his status is worth watching. Bolstering the linebacker depth with Combs could be a sign that Lloyd is going to be a game-time decision.

Combs played 17 special teams snaps in that Week 7 game with the LA Rams.

The second move made by Jacksonville was elevating wide receiver Tim Jones. The Jaguars find themselves very thin at wide receiver with Travis Hunter on injured reserve and Tim Patrick ruled out.

Even with the Jaguars signing Austin Trammell to the 53-man roster, that left Jacksonville with only four healthy receivers prior to Jones being elevated.

Jones played 25 special teams snaps in Weeks 1 and 2 this season with Minnesota. He also saw six snaps on offense in those games as well.

From 2022 through 2024, Jones was a core special teams contributor for the Jaguars and will likely assume a similar role against the Raiders this week.
