Browns coach Kevin Stefanski knew that he had to re-evaluate just about every aspect of his game plan after Cleveland’s disappointing Week 8 loss to the Patriots — just don’t expect a change at quarterback.

Despite outside speculation about Shedeur Sanders potentially replacing Dillon Gabriel as the team’s starting quarterback, Stefanski made it clear that Gabriel has not been pushed down the depth chart. The former Oregon star has struggled in his rookie season, completing 59.9 percent of his passes for 702 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions. With four starts under his belt, he has the lowest QBR (25.5) in the league.

“When I say look at everything, when you lose like this, you have to look at everything,” Stefanski said during his postgame press conference. “Every position, everything I’m doing — it’s frustrating for where we are as a team. Every position you have to look at.

“But let me say that with a young quarterback, you understand there’s going to be ups and downs.”

Gabriel and the Browns will regroup during a much-needed bye week before a road contest against the Jets.
