NASHVILLE — Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Joe Alt was carted off the field after suffering an apparent right leg injury in the first half of Sunday’s game at the Tennessee Titans. The Chargers announced it as an ankle injury.

Alt was in pass protection on a first down. Pressure came off Justin Herbert’s right side. Titans defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day fell down as he rushed and Herbert stepped up into the pocket. Joseph-Day fell into Joe Alt’s right leg.

Alt was down for several minutes. The cart came out almost immediately. He had his right knee bent and was holding onto his lower right leg as the cart headed to the locker room.

Alt missed three games earlier this season with a right high ankle sprain. He returned in Week 8 against the Vikings and was a key part of the Chargers’ bounce-back performance against Minnesota.

Jamaree Salyer replaced Alt at left tackle for the remainder of Sunday’s first half. Chargers starting right tackle Bobby Hart also left the game in the first half with what the Chargers labeled a groin injury. Like Alt, Hart had his leg rolled up on while in pass protection.

The Chargers have already been playing this whole season without starting left tackle Rashawn Slater, who tore his patellar tendon in training camp. Alt was initially supposed to start at right tackle this season. He moved to left tackle after Slater’s injury. The Chargers are also playing Sunday’s game at the Titans without starting right guard Mekhi Becton, who suffered a knee injury in Week 8 and was made inactive for this game.
