Who are the Washington Commanders in great need of this week?

Last week, it was Jayden Daniels, but he was declared out early in the week. Yet, Terry McLaurin returned after being out a month.

Last week, both Laremy Tunsil (LT) and Jer’Zhan Newton (DT) were injured during the game. The Commanders really need these guys this week, but the best we can do thus far is that both are questionable for Sunday night vs the Seahawks.

Head coach Dan Quinn was asked about both Tunsil and Newton’s availability for the Week 9 contest on Friday.

“Yeah, both practiced today,” Quinn said. “So, we’ll see how they respond, but I was pumped to have them both out there getting working today.”

That was encouraging to hear because the team is beat up in more than a few positions.

Tunsil injured a hamstring in the very first series Monday night, left the field, went to the locker room, returned, tried to give it a go, but had to be replaced again, that time for the remainder of the game, by Brandon Coleman.

Newton injured his ankle last week. As a result, he did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. However, Newton was back Friday, trying to get in the reps to prepare for Sunday night’s game. For whatever it is worth, Pro Football Focus (PFP) graded Newton as having a good game against the Chiefs (72.9).

Quinn was asked about the offensive line. You recall Coleman had been healthy and inactive for five consecutive weeks.

“So, I said we’re hopeful, we’ll find out with Laremy where we’re at, but I was pleased to see him get in today,” he said. “And for us, that’s a big deal too, to have balance. It doesn’t mean you come out running your first three plays; it doesn’t mean that at all. It means having balance throughout the game and winning in those spaces. So, we had a good plan, like I said, they got a good front and we’re definitely up for the challenge.”

No one asked why Brandon Coleman “just happened” to be active on the very night Tunsil was injured and couldn’t play. Nor did anyone ask about Coleman’s play, or if he would be active Sunday against Seattle.
