The Washington Commanders were getting blown out in prime time on Sunday, and then it might have gotten much, much worse.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was still in the game and running the ball in the fourth quarter despite the Commanders being behind 38-7 to the Seattle Seahawks, was spun around on a tackle and landed awkwardly on his left non-throwing arm.

It was a graphic injury to his elbow. The training staff put a temporary cast on his left arm. The cart came out for Daniels but he walked to the sideline and to the locker room.

It’s not Daniels’ first injury this season. He had missed time with knee and hamstring injuries. The NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year from last season was making his comeback to the lineup on Sunday night. The game itself wasn’t going well for the Commanders, but with the outcome not in doubt and less than eight minutes left, Washington saw its star quarterback suffer a brutal injury.
