Two former Denver Broncos go back another notch after a historic kick by Jacksonville Jaguars kicker Cam Little. Little set a new NFL record for the longest kick at 68 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
Former Bronco kickers Matt Prater and Jason Elam find their marks on football knocked back a bit after Little’s field goal. In October 1998, Jason Elam tied the-then NFL record of 63 yards set by Tom Dempsey of the New Orleans Saints in 1970. Sixty-three yards was tied five more times before Prater drilled a 64-yard field goal in 2013.
Prater’s record was broken by then-Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker in 2021, and just behind Tucker was Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, who hit a 64-yard field goal in 2025 and a 65-yard kick in 2024.
Tucker’s kick has held the record for four years, one month and seven days. How long will Little’s kick stand?
Here’s how Prater and Elam’s kicks stack up in NFL history:
Cam Little: 68 yardsJustin Tucker: 66 yardsBrandon Aubrey: 65 yardsMatt Prater, Brandon Aubrey: 64 yardsJason Elam, Tom Dempsey, Brett Maher, Graham Gano, David Akers, Sebastian Janikowski, Joey Slye: 63 yards
Little has the opportunity to go even further against the Broncos later this year in Week 16, when he will have the assistance of the thin Mile High air. Can he do it again? And will Wil Lutz ever get a chance to crack the list?
