The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing Aaron Rodgers‘ former Green Bay Packers teammate to their practice squad — bolstering their wide receiver depth with a much-needed veteran presence.
On Monday, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reported that the Steelers were signing Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad — a move that likely correlates with the recent release of fan-favorite cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr.
Spending four seasons with Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers from 2018 to 2021, Valdes-Scantling caught 123 passes for 2,153 yards and 13 touchdowns — still possessing enough speed to make an impact if his number is called upon.
Less than 24 hours before the NFL trade deadline, signing MVS doesn’t exactly fill the need at wide receiver for Pittsburgh, with rumors and speculation swirling that the Steelers are still looking to target a wideout by the big date.
