Atlanta’s offensive line suffered a few key injuries in Sunday’s loss to New England.
The pressure is on Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris after his team’s 24-23 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 9. Not only did the Falcons lose their third consecutive game, but they suffered a few concerning injuries in the process.
Left guard Matthew Bergeron exited the game in the first half due to an ankle injury and did not return. Right guard Chris Lindstrom also suffered a foot injury, and edge rusher Leonard Floyd left due to a hamstring injury. Morris met with media on Monday to discuss the loss and provide some injury updates.
“You give those guys until Wednesday to see what’s happening,” Morris stated. “Bergeron, obviously, it was the ankle yesterday. He had to leave out probably the second play or so. Chris made it through most of the game. Their replacements came in and did a pretty good job. Can’t complain about that, but we’ll know more as the week goes.”
Bergeron and Lindstrom are two of the team’s most important players, so their statuses are worth monitoring this week. Kyle Hinton and Jovaughn Gwyn would likely fill in if the two starters can’t play on Sunday. Morris also said the team could consider moving some guys around with Storm Norton potentially set to return.
Elijah Wilkinson has played both tackle and guard and could kick inside if Lindstrom is forced to miss time. The Falcons will face the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday in Berlin, Germany. Check back on Wednesday for the team’s first official injury report of Week 10.
