See Giants QB Jaxson Dart talk about raising the bar for himself, team

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart lost a game for the first time at MetLife Stadium as the starter. He spoke about raising the bar for Big Blue.

EAST RUTHERFORD – The New York Giants are in an unfortunate yet familiar position as the NFL trade deadline approaches Tuesday at 4 p.m.

For the third straight year, Brian Daboll’s team is 2-7. The circumstances feel somewhat different because of the presence of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, even if that doesn’t take the sting out of their lackluster performance on the field and the scoreboard the past three weeks.

There is reason to believe the Giants could be both buyers and sellers, as strange as that may be, with uncertainty about the futures of Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen with eight games left.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Giants and the NFL trade deadline as we count down the final hours and keep track of what we’re hearing.

New York Giants trade deadline rumors, news

Follow here for the latest as it happens.

NY Giants trade deadline optionsJAYLIN WADDLE, WR, DOLPHINS: Miami will reportedly want a first-round pick for the 26-year-old, but perhaps that price goes down closer to the deadline if the Giants make a sweet enough offer. He’s the ideal fit.CHRIS OLAVE, WR, SAINTS: If Waddle is not an option, Olave would be an attractive playmaker to ultimately pair with Malik Nabers when he returns from ACL surgery next season.RASHID SHAHEED, WR, SAINTS: Untapped potential from the speedy 27-year-old, but would require a contract extension to keep him here beyond this year.  Will Giants trade WR Jalin Hyatt?

Hyatt embraced the “whatever happens happens” mantra as he left the locker room Sunday night. He knows his role is essentially non-existent on offense, and the Giants used him as one of the returns on kickoff with Gunner Olszewski. A third-round pick the Giants moved up to select, Hyatt has not shown enough as a diversified route runner. He was a home run hitter in college at Tennessee, but has just 11 catches dating back to last season.

Will Giants trade OL Evan Neal?

The former No. 7 overall pick out of Alabama switched from right tackle to right guard in the offseason. He was a healthy scratch in the first eight games before being active Sunday against the 49ers, but he did not play. Neal took first-team reps in training camp as the Giants eased veteran right guard Greg Van Roten into the starting lineup, but he eventually fell behind Aaron Stinnie as the top interior reserve.

Will Giants trade CB Tae Banks?

This isn’t even about Banks being a playable corner right now. His performance has dropped off so drastically, it’s fair criticism to question his ability as a football player. A change of scenery might be best, but the unknown is whether another team still sees skill there based on the tape.

Will Giants trade OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux?

Thibodeaux is under contract through 2026 with the franchise tag in play after that. He’s the first draft pick of Schoen and Daboll. He’s sacrificing a bit for this team and embracing the dirty work up front. No draft asset is more important, but there is interest from others. How strong?

Will Giants trade DL Dexter Lawrence?

Lawrence hasn’t changed his desire to stay with the Giants, who would have to be blown away to even consider dealing one of their best players. There’s no question he would have the biggest price tag and bring back the biggest haul, but this is a fruitless exercise. You need to keep good players.

Will Giants trade QB Russell Wilson?

Wilson has value to Dart and the Giants behind the scenes, but his time here on the field is likely over with Jameis Winston under contract for next season. It’s hard imagining the Giants saying no if a team asks.
