Detroit Lions fans outside Ford Field for Minnesota Vikings game
Detroit Lions fans are lined up outside Ford Field on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025 eager to get inside for the game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Things didn’t go as planned for the Detroit Lions against the Minnesota Vikings last week as big favorites.
They get another chance as a heavy favorite in Week 10, this time on the road.
The Lions (5-3, second in NFC North) are heading east to face the Washington Commanders (3-6, third in NFC East) on Sunday, Nov. 9, at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland. The game is set to kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET and will be televised on Fox and streamed on Fubo.
Detroit is coming off arguably its worst performance of the season, a 27-24 home loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Moreover, the Lions are facing potentially critical injuries on their offensive line, with guard Christian Mahogany out with a broken leg and tackles Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker likely missing Wednesday practice.

However, the Commanders face the critical injury a team can have, with starting quarterback Jayden Daniels out with a dislocated elbow suffered Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks. The Commanders will start veteran backup Marcus Mariota, who has gone 1-2 in three starts this season, and previously hadn’t started a game since the 2022 season with the Atlanta Falcons.
Here’s what you need to know about the Lions’ next game, plus an early prediction.
Lions vs Commanders prediction, pick in Week 10
Despite losing an very winnable home game to second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy and the sub-.500 Vikings, there isn’t a reason to panic in Detroit. Not as long as offensive tackles Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker can still play effectively, anyway.
This game against the Commanders previously seemed like must-watch TV, with the Lions looking to avenge a 45-31 divisional-round loss to Washington that ended Detroit’s Super Bowl hopes in mid-January. But with the Commanders now off to a 3-6 start, and with Daniels possibly out for the season, this is now looking more like a tune-up game for the Lions before crucial matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers to finish November (with a home visit from the New York Giants sandwiched in between).
That might be a dangerous attitude to take, of course. The Lions may have underestimated their previous opponent, or at least it seemed that way against the Vikings, who consistently played the bully at the line of scrimmage while snuffing the Lions’ run game. But a ground attack may not be needed this week with the Commanders sporting the fourth-worst pass defense in the NFL. Sam Darnold just lit them up for four first-half touchdown passes. Even on the road and still with injuries to key players, the Lions should cruise to a win. The pick: Lions 34, Commanders 24.
