The trade deadline for the 2025 NFL season approaches fast today at 3 p.m.

Many teams take this final day to look at their roster, and see if they can make a move to bolster their depth chart, or address a glaring need that could factor into the team making a playoff run.

The Minnesota Vikings are a team that COULD make some moves at the deadline considering a couple of holes the Vikings have been trying to cover in the first 9 weeks of the season.

After 9 Weeks, the Vikings sit at 4-4. Not out of it yet, but could use some help to boost their playoff chances and get back into the playoff conversation. Currently the Vikings sit at 10th in the NFC Standings, and could benefit by making a move at the deadline, or signing some free agents.

Lets take a look at some of possible positions the Vikings could reach out for before the deadline hits at 3 today.

Trade Possibility #1:

-Cornerback-

As predicted in the preseason, the Vikings cornerback room is its weakest position group. Multiple times so far this season, coverages have been broken for easy touchdowns, first downs have been picked up with ease, and drives continue leaving the defense on the field to give up points, and keeping the offense off the field preventing points.

The Vikings could help themselves bringing in another cornerback who can take over in a starting roll, giving some relief to their current starters Isaiah Rodgers, and Byron Murphy Jr. In the case of injury to one of the current starters, the Vikings wouldn’t be stuck relying on backup talent to try and cover receivers in critical situations.

Trade Possibility #2:

-Any Offensive Line-

Shall we roll the tape? The Vikings offensive line, even more so then the cornerback room has been the biggest issue for the Vikings in 2025, however, the difference between the two, is the Vikings have only played with the same Week 1 offensive line once this season, compared to the Corners who haven’t missed a lot of time collectively.

The Vikings could benefit from bringing in DEPTH to the offensive line, in the case of an injury again to any of their current starters. We seen what the Minnesota line looked like with backups and dudes who should not be starting in games, what would hurt from bringing in a fringe starter for a team who has a chance to play and be productive?

With the amount of sacks, turnovers, and injuries the offensive line has caused this year, some added depth to the position in the case of an injury would be an extra insurance step especially for J.J. McCarthy who himself has dealt with injury problems, which leads us into our third and final trade possibility.

Trade Possibility #3:

-Quarterback-

J.J. McCarthy is back in the starting lineup, but I think its completely fair to say, for how long? He missed all of last season with an injury, and missed a good chunk of this season already with an injury. Who is to say next week the same thing wont happen and the Vikings are again stuck looking for a quarterback who can handle a snap. Carson Wentz, the teams previous backup is gone for the season with a shoulder injury, mostly caused by the bad offensive line play, and the teams medical staff allowing him to continue to play. In the case of McCarthy going down again, currently the Vikings only have rookie Max Brosmer to take the reigns.

The Vikings could use another veteran backup to sit behind McCarthy just incase the injury bug bites him again, which history has already shown in his 2 year career is a possibility. The Vikings will not need to break the bank, or give up a lot of draft picks in order to do this. They just need to find a team that has a spare backup that can come in and take a snap in the event of an injury to McCarthy.

The Vikings may have hit some momentum after their big win in Detroit last week, but if they wanna keep the momentum going, they may need to reach out to some other teams for help. The Vikings will return home this week to host the Baltimore Ravens, and JJ McCarthy will be making his second home start. Can the Vikes and McCarthy ride that momentum of last weeks win and string together a couple wins and get back into the playoff conversation?
