Two teams in the AFC South made blockbuster moves to fix their franchise and make a run to the postseason. Neither team was the Houston Texans.

With the trade deadline in the rear view mirror, Houston elected to stand pat and not trade away or trade for anyone before the 4 p.m. ET deadline. Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars — who both would be in the playoffs if the season ended today — made big moves Tuesday.

The Colts (7-2) swung big, bettering their secondary by acquiring New York Jets All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner. Indianapolis shipped off two first-round picks in 2026 and 2027, along with former University of Texas wideout Adonai Mitchell, to land the elite standout defensive back, keeping him at Lucas Oil Stadium through 2030.

As for the Jaguars (5-3), adding a receiver with rookie Travis Hunter going on injured reserve seemed essential. It also became critical after the struggles of Brian Thomas Jr. became more than just a minor flag. They landed their star, sending a fourth- and sixth-round pick to the Las Vegas Raiders for top top-ranked No. 2 wideout Jakobi Meyers.

Meyers, 29, is in the final year of his three-year, $33 million contract with Las Vegas, but should be a contender to ink a new deal before the season’s end. He’s a solid secondary weapon that should add value to the passing attack for Liam Coen’s offensive personnel.

Entering Sunday’s contest against the Texans at NRG Stadium, Jacksonville leads the NFL in drops (19), five of which have come by Thomas. Meyers, who currently has 33 catches on the season, has never totaled more than two drops in a season over his seven-year career.

Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans (1-8) continued their fire sale by trading away linebacker Dre’Mont Jones, who was sent to the Baltimore Ravens for a fifth-round pick. With the Titans, Jones led the team with 4.5 sacks in seven games.

The Texans kickof against the Jaguars this Sunday at noon CT.
