Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown was a popular name thrown around as a possible trade target leading up to Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.
Brown has expressed public frustration with his role in the Eagles’ offense as the reigning Super Bowl champions move through their 2025 NFL campaign. Through the first seven games of the season, the three-time Pro-Bowl WR has 29 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns.
Though rumors of a possible trade swirled, nothing ever materialized.
After the trade deadline passed on Tuesday, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman was asked if he ever considered any offers for Brown.
“When you’re trying to be a great team, it’s hard to trade great players. A.J. Brown is a great player,” Roseman said, via team insider EJ Smith. “He cares about winning. He cares about his teammates. He wears the ‘C’ for a reason. He’s an important part of this team and this organization. . . . When you’re a team like ours, that’s looking forward to an opportunity to compete for a championship, you just don’t get rid of guys like that.”

Brown has led the Eagles in receiving in just one game this season, reeling in six of his 10 targets for 109 yards and one touchdown in a Week 3 win over the Los Angeles Rams. The 28-year-old WR had his best game of the year in Week 7, catching four passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Unfortunately for Brown, he suffered a hamstring injury in the midst of his season-best performance. He was ruled out for Philadelphia’s Week 8 win over the New York Giants, but is expected to return to the field this weekend following his team’s Week 9 bye.
