Verse might be the best player in the NFL to put a mic on during games

Jared Verse should be mic’d up every week. No ifs, ands or buts.

The Los Angeles Rams’ standout second-year edge rusher is always willing to talk, whether it’s to his teammates or heaving trash talk to his opponents after every snap.

The Rams had him wearing a mic for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints and he rarely had a quiet moment. One of the few times he wasn’t talking was after Puka Nacua’s incredible touchdown grab.

Nacua came over to the sideline, stared into Verse’s soul and gave him a punch to the chest, as if to say, ‘Yeah, I just did that.’”

Verse said he was in his “Darth Vader mode” and applauded Nacua for the toughness he brings on every snap.

“He’s like a wide receiver but with the toughness of a linebacker. Like me. Not any linebacker. Like me,” Verse said.

He had fun with Saints rookie left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr., talking about the way his eyes were “making these smiles” while Verse was rushing the passer.

“You should get a look at 71’s eyes when I’m rushing him,” he said on he sideline. “They be making these smiles. I look at his eyes and he’s like this.”

Not sure how eyes smile, but we’ll take your word for it, Jared.
