The 2025 NFL Draft was rare in that every team made it to draft day while holding its own first-round pick. Not a single first-rounder was traded before the draft began, the first time that’s ever happened in the common draft era.
The 2026 draft will be very, very different. With just under six months until the draft begins, there are already several teams with multiple first-round picks – the Los Angeles Rams being one of them.
On Tuesday, a fourth team joined the mix with two first-rounders in the 2026 draft. The New York Jets shockingly traded Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts for their 2026 and 2027 first-rounders. As a result, the Jets now have multiple first-round selections next year, as do the Rams, Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys.
The Rams, of course, acquired the Atlanta Falcons’ first-round pick in a draft day trade that saw Los Angeles move down from No. 26 to 46, allowing Atlanta to select James Pearce.
It’s reasonable to think the Rams will be in the market for a quarterback in the 2026 draft, as will the Jets and Browns. So the competition for the top passers will be stiff, should the Rams go down that route.
As of now, the Falcons’ pick is slotted at No. 11 and the Rams’ is 27th, which would be enough firepower to move up in the first round and nab one of the best quarterbacks in the class. The Jets just have the advantage of owning multiple first-rounders in 2027, too, as do the Cowboys.
Update (2:08 p.m. ET): The Jets made another blockbuster trade, sending Quinnen Williams to the Cowboys for a second-round pick in 2026 and a first-rounder in 2027.
Teams are still finalizing compensation but as of now Cowboys trading a second round pick this year and a first next year for Pro Bowl DT Quinnen Williams. @NFLonFOX

The Jets and Cowboys both still have two first-round picks in 2026, but now the Jets will have four first-rounders in 2027 and Dallas will have one.
