NFL midseason superlatives: The biggest busts so far

USA TODAY Sports’ Joe Rivera and Chris Bumbaca dish out which players, coaches, and teams have been the biggest letdowns so far.

The Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals provided a prolific display of offense in Week 9.

The two teams combined for more than 1,000 yards of offense, even with the Bears missing some key contributors on offense. Backup running back Kyle Monangai ran wild for 198 total yards from scrimmage against the Bengals‘ defense.

Monangai did so with starting Bears running back D’Andre Swift out of the lineup with a groin injury.

Swift missed his first game of the season because of that injury first suffered back in Week 6. He’s been listed on the injury report every week and missed multiple practices because of it. Week 9 was the first game he’d missed due to the injury.

At 5-3, Chicago is in the hunt for a playoff spot entering Week 10. This week, they’re at home against the New York Giants. Will Swift be back in the lineup? Here’s what we know:

Swift was on the field for practice today. He suited up and participated in a limited fashion, meaning he was on the injury report for the Bears’ Week 10 game against New York.

This has been a nagging injury for Swift over the last few weeks. He may remain limited in practice this week, so his status on Friday will be more critical.
