Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown talks focus, execution, locker room positivity ahead of Commanders game

  • November 7, 2025

ALLEN PARK, Mich. – Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown talked about the team’s upcoming game against the Washington Commanders and the challenges ahead.

“Maybe it gives us a bit of an edge,” St. Brown said about facing a familiar opponent. “We played them last year in the playoffs. Same coaches, a lot of the same players. It’s going to be a good game. They play hard. They’re a well-coached defense with smart players. We have to be on the details, communication, execution, taking care of the ball.”

When asked if this was a game he circled on the schedule, St. Brown said, “Before the season, yes. Now, it’s just week by week. We’re in the flow of things.”

On helping quarterback Jared Goff avoid sacks by getting open faster, St. Brown emphasized speed and efficiency.

“As receivers, we’re always trying to get open as fast as we can because the rush is coming every play, especially on third down.”

Regarding the locker room atmosphere, St. Brown expressed gratitude for the positive environment despite recent losses.

“It’s been awesome coming to work every day here. The coaches and players are always positive. We’ll move on and be all right,” St. Brown said.

Addressing the team’s struggles on third down, currently ranked 25th in the NFL, St. Brown said receivers must take accountability.

“We just have to get open, make plays, create separation, and do whatever it takes to get the first down. We have to go harder in practice, game day, and meetings,” St. Brown.

Looking ahead to a stretch of NFC opponents, St. Brown stressed the importance of focusing on one game at a time.

“Every game is big. We can’t look too far ahead. This week, it’s all about the Commanders. We control what we can and hope to get a win,” St. Brown said.

On the offense being described as explosive but inefficient, St. Brown said the key is finding “flow.”

“We haven’t had that rhythm all year. When we get it back, we’ll be fine. Everyone, staff and players, is working toward that. Communication, execution, taking care of the football, and fundamentals are crucial,” St. Brown said.

St. Brown added, “We have guys that can make plays everywhere. We just have to put it all together.”

Look for the Lions to get back on track against a banged-up Washington team, which is expected to be without Daniels and wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

Kickoff is slated for 4:25 p.m.
