The New York Giants enter Week 10 of the NFL season riding a three-game skid after back-to-back road losses to the Denver Broncos (lost 33-32) and Philadelphia Eagles (lost 38-20), followed by a home defeat to the San Francisco 49ers (lost 34-24).

However, apparently, when the Giants touched back down in New Jersey after the Broncos’ loss in Week 7, talk wasn’t about Xs and Os but rather whether head coach Brian Daboll had just lost his job.

Speaking with reporters on Friday, Daboll confirmed he’d spoken with management about the situation, noting that it ultimately comes down to the team “not winning enough games.”

“There are a lot of reports out there,” Daboll said. “So I don’t think you focus on those, you focus on the things you can control.”

The collapse in Denver, when the Giants miraculously blew a 19-0 fourth-quarter lead and surrendered 33 points in a 33-32 loss, is what ultimately kick-started the rumors.

The game not only cost a win; according to multiple reports, ownership privately considered moving on from Daboll in the hours after the flight home — a change that, sources say, was ultimately shelved after “cooler heads prevailed.”

Ownership has repeatedly stood by Daboll and GM Joe Schoen, but the team’s latest slide has added pressure on the Giants to either stay committed to the long-term rebuild or start fresh once more.

Daboll arrived in New York for the 2022 season and immediately produced a surprise playoff berth and a Coach of the Year award.

Since then, results have slipped: 9-7-1 in 2022, 6-11 in 2023, 3-14 in 2024, and the current 2-7 start this season — a cumulative regular-season mark that sits at 20-39-1, with a 1-1 postseason ledger.

That sharp turn from early success to steady decline now sits at the heart of the debate over Daboll’s future in New York.

With the Giants sitting at the bottom of the NFC East and only one game away from last place in the conference, the team’s upcoming schedule will be crucial for Daboll to keep his job.

After Sunday’s contest against the Chicago Bears, they come back home to face the Green Bay Packers (Nov. 16) before road tests at the Detroit Lions (Nov. 23) and New England Patriots (Dec. 1).

Given that these are all playoff-caliber football teams and legitimate Super Bowl contenders, the situation isn’t looking great right now for Daboll or the Giants.
