The New York Jets (1-7) head into Week 10 fresh off their Week 9 bye. Prior to that, the Green and White finally recorded their first win of the 2025 season against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Jets have been at the bottom of NFL national power rankings polls most weeks throughout the year.
Is this week going to be different?
Here’s how the Jets fare in national media power rankings polls heading into Week 10:
31. New York Jets (30): A 1-7 squad coming off its bye is just a few breaks from being 5-3 − such is life in the unforgiving NFL. Yet apparently, life had gotten so bad in Gotham, the NYJ are trading Gardner, whom they’d signed to a four-year extension just three months ago, to the Colts for two first-round picks. Also out is Williams, who’s fetching a first- and second-rounder. The Jets also take castoffs Mazi Smith from Dallas and Adonai Mitchell from Indy. Bold long-term moves − remember how the Jamal Adams swap panned out years ago − if ones that invite more pain in the interim.
29. Jets (No. 29; 1-7): The Jets are so bad that even when they’re off it feels like they lost.
30. New York Jets (1-7)
Last week: 30
Sunday: Bye
Midseason grade: D-
The only reasons the Jets don’t get an F are the low expectations they entered the season with, their one-point win over the Bengals and some positive signs from first- and second-round picks Armand Membou and Mason Taylor. Otherwise, everything else has been pretty miserable.

Week 9 Result: Bye Week
The Jets couldn’t lose this past weekend, because they didn’t play a game. The team did enter its off-week on a positive note after winning its first game of the season.
Justin Fields silenced doubters for at least one week with the Jets’ comeback victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Though everyone saw the Chicago Bears do the same in Week 9.
Maybe the Bengals defense is so bad that no one should take anything of substance from those playing against the unit.
The Cleveland Browns will present a more formidable defense, which can provide a better indication of where the Jets currently are. Aaron Glenn and his coaching staff had two weeks to prepare.
Then again, the Jets might have a fire sale during this week’s trade deadline and completely change the upcoming contest’s outlook.
31. Jets (-)
They come off their bye after beating the Bengals before going on it. It’s time to build off of that, even if the owner doesn’t believe in his quarterback.
29. New York Jets (-)
They’ll have had two weeks to enjoy the first win of the Aaron Glenn era, and now they’ll return you to your regularly scheduled programming. Unless they sell off their best players on Tuesday, in which case the programming will get even worse.
30. New York Jets (No change)
Chance of making playoffs: <1%Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%
The Jets’ facility may have been calmer during their Week 9 bye, thanks to their win against the Bengals in Week 8. But at 1-7, there’s a lot of work to be done from Aaron Glenn and Co. to get this team in better shape long-term. This team looks considerably different post-bye, with stars Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams no longer in the building. At least there’s a chance Garrett Wilson (72.8 grade; 32nd) will be back to help shape the offense a little more.

Most important game remaining: Week 16 at the Saints
This could have major implications for the No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft, as the Jets, the Saints and the Titans are the league’s only one-win teams. Unlike the Titans, who drafted Cam Ward last year, the Jets and the Saints figure to be in the QB market. The Jets have Justin Fields under contract next season, but he has yet to demonstrate he can be their long-term answer. His Total QBR is 37.9, which ranks 30th out of 32 qualified passers.
