On at least three occasions this season, all eyes will be on the Las Vegas Raiders.
With the release of the 2025 NFL schedule, it’s been revealed that the Silver and Black will have three primetime games this season. Of the three outings, two will be contested against divisional opponents.
The Raiders’ home opener will be against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football, featuring the renewal of the rivalry between Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh, who’ve had their fair share of battles dating back to their Pac-10 days. Their USC vs. Stanford rivalry transferred over to the NFC West, with Carroll’s Seattle Seahawks facing off against Harbaugh’s San Francisco 49ers nine times between 2011-2014. Carroll holds the upper hand over Harbaugh in the NFL, 5-4. This includes a victory in an all-time classic 2014 NFC Championship Game with a Richard Sherman tipped pass to Malcolm Smith for an interception that resulted in an 23-17 win and Carroll’s Seahawks going on to ultimately win the Super Bowl.
It’s also worth noting the last time the Raiders played the Chargers in a primetime game, also at Allegiant Stadium, they scored a franchise-record 63 points on Thursday Night Football in Week 15 of the 2023 season.
