ESPN’s “College GameDay” was live from Lubbock on Saturday morning for the highly anticipated top-10 showdown between the unbeaten No. 7 BYU Cougars and the one-loss No. 8 Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Fittingly, the celebrity guest picker for this week’s episode was none other than Texas Tech legend and current Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

With Kansas City on a bye week, the timing was perfect for Mahomes to return to Lubbock for one of the Red Raiders’ biggest home matchups in recent memory.

As expected, Mahomes made all his game picks and confidently rolled with his Red Raiders to secure the afternoon victory. However, during the segment, he also made a subtle mention of his favorite quarterback to watch in all of college football — revealing his admiration while picking the massive Big Ten showdown between the No. 9 Oregon Ducks and the No. 20 Iowa Hawkeyes.

While choosing Oregon, Mahomes shared that Ducks quarterback Dante Moore is his favorite player to watch at the position — a comment that quickly drew plenty of attention.

“Dante Moore might be my favorite quarterback to watch in college, so I’m gonna take the Ducks,” Mahomes said.

Oregon fans quickly reacted to Mahomes’ statement.

“(Dylan) Raiola seeing this,” a fan joked.

Someone else added: “A dagger right to Dylan Raiola’s heart.”

Another person wrote: “The only smart thing this dude has ever said.”

One fan shared: “Dylan Raiola has to be pissed right now.”

One more fan commented: “Pat Mahomes has spoken.

Mahomes is a Texas Tech fan at heart and mentioned that he’s excited to watch Red Raiders starting quarterback Behren Morton on Saturday. However, it appears that Moore has also caught his attention after the tremendous season he’s put together in Dan Lanning’s offense.

Moore, who served as a backup last year behind Dillon Gabriel, transferred to Oregon after beginning his college career at UCLA, where he arrived as a five-star recruit and one of the nation’s top quarterback prospects coming out of high school.
