DALLAS, Texas (KETK) – As the NFL season grows closer, the Dallas Cowboys 2025 schedule has been released, leading many to anticipate how the Cowboys will perform this upcoming season under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer.

Dallas Cowboys to face off against Philadelphia Eagles in NFL’s 2025 season opener

According to ESPN, the Cowboys have been dealt the fifth-hardest schedule in the league as ten of their seventeen games will be against teams who finished with a winning record in 2024. Due to their strength of schedule, the Cowboys will be featured in eight prime-time games, including three on KETK.

The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing 2024 season where they finished with a 7-10 record and failed to make the postseason. With the recent addition of wide receiver George Pickens along with new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, the Cowboys are hoping to be competitive in the rather challenging NFC East.

Notable gamesWeek 8: Chiefs VS Cowboys

For the annual Thanksgiving game, the Cowboys will be facing off at AT&T Stadium against the reigning AFC Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. Since Texas native Patrick Mahomes was drafted by the Chiefs, the Cowboys are 1-1 against his team, including a 10-point loss in 2021, which was the last time Dallas faced Mahomes.

Week 4: Packers VS Cowboys

The Cowboys will be capping off the first month of the season by facing off against longtime rival the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are coming off of a solid 2024 season where they finished the year with an 11-6 record and clinched a spot in the postseason.

The matchup will be a good test for the Cowboys, who are coming off of a lackluster 2024 season and are hoping to be more competitive, especially on the offensive side. The game will be held on Sunday Sept 28 on KETK.

Week 14: Cowboys VS Lions

Near the end of the season, the Cowboys will be heading to Ford Stadium to face off against the Detroit Lions. The Lions had a dominant 2024 season where they finished with a 15-2 record, which was the best record in the NFC.

The Cowboys will be looking to avenge themselves after they suffered a 47-9 defeat against the Lions this past season.  Outside the 2024 loss, the Cowboys have been dominant against the Lions over the past 15 years, not losing a game to Detroit since2013.

Week 17: Cowboys vs Commanders

On Christmas Day, the Cowboys will be heading to Washington DC for a crucial divisional matchup against the Commanders. The Commanders are coming off of a surprisingly impressive 2024 season where they finished with a 12-5 record and clinched a spot in the playoffs for the first time since 2002.

The Commanders are currently led by former Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn along with Rookie of the Year quarterback Jayden Daniels.  The Commanders, along with the Cowboys, will be looking to clinch a spot in a competitive NFC East Division, which will make this Christmas game crucial for both teams.
